Teaching Philosophy:

In my studio, I teach a rounded piano education with an emphasis on creativity and healthy technique and equipping my students for life through music. Learning piano enhances life skills such as confidence, good work ethics, and diligent endurance to reach a goal. I work to to instill in my students a desire to listen, understand, and ultimately communicate through music. I value one-on-one piano lessons to get to know each student on a personal level and therefore teach them with a specific learning style approach.

Piano Studio Policies:

1. Lessons
I teach 30, 45, or 60 minute piano lessons, Monday-Thursday, on a weekly basis. I offer make-up lessons for sick days once a month on a Friday. Lessons will be held at my home studio located in Bothell, Washington. I will provide my address when you schedule an interview! Students should arrive on time, prepared for their lesson. For students to prepare well for and benefit from lessons, they will be expected to practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Their practice time will increase as they advance to a new level of musical proficiency. I frequently audio record my students pieces during lessons to create a CD at the end of the year with all of their favorite pieces! Students need to bring all of their music books and assignment sheets to their weekly lessons. Theory and composition assignments are required to be completed at home.

2. Studio Tuition
Tuition is charged by the month from September-June and is due by cash or check at the first lesson of each month. Some months have 3, 4, or 5 weeks of lessons. Tuition remains the same each month. During July-August summer tuition is charged by the week and is due at the first lesson of every month.

Please contact me at rosefreemanmusic@gmail.com for monthly lesson rates.

There will be no adjustment in tuition due to missed lessons. I offer make up lessons once a month on Fridays for sick days. Please reschedule if your student has been sick 24 hours before their scheduled lesson. Their makeup lesson is to be rescheduled within the month of absence. Please give one month advanced notice if you choose to end lessons.

I take two weeks off in December-January for Christmas break. Some months with 5 lessons make up for these months with 3 lessons. Please ask me any questions you have regarding tuition in an email or in our first lesson interview!

3. At home requirements
Students will be required to have a piano of their own to practice on at home. I encourage students to practice in an environment at home that is conducive to good learning habits and is void of distractions. Parents, please assist your child in providing the best location of your piano at home!

4. Interviews
Before starting lessons, I always schedule an interview with parents and students to meet with me, discuss studio policies, and decide whether or not my studio is the best fit for you. I offer a complimentary lesson at this interview to assess their playing ability/learning style and appropriate a suitable curriculum for their music study. This also gives you the opportunity to learn more about my teaching style and what I offer.

5. Performance opportunities:
As a member of Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA) and Snohomish County Music Teachers Association (SCMTA), my students have the opportunity to participate in local chapter and state festivals as well as share their music at studio recitals!
